The French stud-book was created in 1833 and it is particularly represented in south-west, especially in Limousin and Midi-Pyrénées. Crossing with native breed, such as Limousin horses have been done for giving more height and flesh out.

Used by the military cavalry, the Anglo-Arab quickly becomes a race horse, symbol of wealth. It was not until the twentieth century that the first sports horses appear.

Faster and lighter than the other horses present on sports track, the Anglo-Arab horse becomes the ideal sport horse. The blood crosing brings all qualities of a good sports horse: endurance, character, balance, gait, ability to gallop …

Multi-purpose and well balanced, the Anglo-Arab excels in eventing. His jump shot, endurance and locomotion make him a popular competitor for amateur riders and professionals. So, naturally we find him at the highest level of eventing competitions.

Today, the Anglo-Arab horse is bringing together all physical and mental qualities to reach the best level. Its production is supported by the National Stud of Pompadour which manages a national broodmares from very old Anglo-Arab origin.

Why a national center of Anglo-Arabian ?

It is in this context, that the ANAA and the IFCE had the will to create a national center of the Anglo-Arabian serving breeders.

These last years, the Anglo-Arab beed knows a decrease of his production especially in « pure bred » (-30% between 2010 and 2012) and his breeders’ numbers fall. If nothing is made, this situation could put in danger for the genetic heritage created in France.

The opening, in 2013 of the Anglo-Arab’s stud-book at the international  , including 13 signatory countries of the international confederacy of the Anglo-Arabian ( ciaa ), has for aim to give a new impetus to the production, by expanding the data selection and add value to the results of the breed at the international level.

Furthermore, today, most of the French breeders show their anxiety about the difficulties they have value and sell their production.

The national association of the Anglo-Arabian had for missions to promote and to develop the production of the breed by providing its development and its valuation in France and abroad.

It is in this context, that the ANAA and the IFCE had the will to create a national center of the Anglo-Arabian serving breeders.
